FAQs

Where do lessons take place?

Face to face lessons take place at The Music Base studio which is based on Space Business Centre, Aylesbury.

Online lessons are given via Zoom or Skype.

Do I need a drum kit to start having lessons?

No, you don't need a drum kit to start off with. The great thing about learning drums is that with a little bit of imagination you can practise on anything whether that be cushions, mouse mats, buckets or saucepans.

What will I do in my first drum lesson?

In your first lesson you will learn how to play a basic pop/rock beat, play along to a song and play a short solo using all the drum kit.

Do I need to be able to read music?

No not at all. We will teach you how to read drum notation using a number of fantastic books or transcriptions for your favourite songs. You'll pick it up quickly.

Can I take exams?

Yes you can. We teach all grades 1-8 using the Trinity and Rockschool syllabus.

What do I need to bring to my first lesson?

Absolutely nothing, all we ask is that you come with a positive attitude and the willingness to learn and have fun. We will provide sticks for your first lesson which you can purchase. We also recommend wearing hearing protection during lessons.
